The Athena Swan Charter was originally established in 2005 to recognise the advancement of gender equality, representation, progression and success in science, technology, engineering, maths and medicine (STEMM). In May 2015 the charter was rightly expanded to recognise work undertaken in arts, humanities, social sciences, business and law (AHSSBL), and in professional and support roles, and for trans staff and students.
Over the past decade the charter has promoted real change, but there remains much to do. The focus of this first 欧美性爱片 Athena lecture will be on the pipeline that enables women to take up STEM careers (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths). This starts early and whilst the number of girls taking STEM subjects at school has increased, there is still much to do to increase the number of women at the top or leading STEM.
